Longhorns Helping Bring Clean Water to Rural Kenya
The extraordinary duo of Bud, BS ’59, and Sandy Mulcahy, BA ’57, celebrate a new water well in Kapkesembe, Kenya, with a song of gratitude from members of the community. The Mulcahys have dedicated years to providing clean water to rural Kenya as co-founders of Africa Water Wells. The late Bud was an engineer who tested Apollo 11 spacesuits and worked on the Space Shuttle, but considered drilling wells in Africa his great accomplishment.
At 90, Sandy remains an active speaker and humanitarian, recently dropping off medicine and water filters to Cuba in April. Pictured below with Father Dezalo, and with the help of Kingsway Charities in Tennessee, Sandy delivered 210 pounds of antibiotics to Matanzas’ Centro de Gestion de Medicamentos at La Iglesia la Milagrosa, about two hours east of Havana.
