Spencer "Smokey" Payne, MSTC ’25, Life Member, Army veteran and executive director of the Blue Skies Foundation, recently led the overnight Rivalry Relay, a 130-mile trek from College Station to Austin, to raise funds and awareness in support of Army Aviation Gold Star Families. The relay brought together Longhorns, Aggies, veterans, service members, and civilians to channel the rivalry for good. Payne was joined by 2025 classmates Aaron Stieglitz, MSTC ’25, Life Member; Sergio Roman, MSTC ’25; and Alek Salazar, MSTC ’25.
