Flying in a formation of Mk IX Spitfires at Duxford Air Base, England, on September 4, 2025, in preparation for the Fall Duxford Warbirds Airshow was Frederick John ‘Skip’ Slyfield II, BA ’77, retired Delta captain of 33 years and former Navy pilot of 20 years. As a student at UT, Slyfield won the 1976-77 Student Government vice presidency as an absurdist candidate running on the "Art and Sausages" platform. He is currently the operations officer for the Utah Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, flying the T-6 Texan and PT-17 Stearman, as well as an instructor and check pilot for the FAA FAST program, where he trains warbird pilots to fly in formation at airshows.
