Ahead of his 95th birthday, San Angelo legend Mark McLaughlin, BBA '52, LLB '54, Life Member, Distinguished Alumnus, was celebrated with a special event hosted by the Texas Exes San Angelo Chapter, including chapter officers Melinda Springer, BS ’76; president Bruce Swartz, BS ’82; and Max Parker, BBA ’73, JD ’76. The community of San Angelo has been greatly impacted by McLaughlin, an influential attorney, banker, rancher, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. As a student at UT and a member of Texas Cowboys, he was instrumental in the creation of Old Smokey. At the event, he spoke and fielded questions before the packed house closed with a standing ovation and rendition of "The Eyes of Texas."
