The UGLI Foundation Started by a Longhorn to End Bullying
Angela Akins Garcia, BJ ’08, Life Member, is the founder of The UGLI Foundation, an organization determined to end bullying and create a better world for everyone. Garcia has embarked on a speaking tour across schools in Texas as an advocate and the co-founder of the Sergio and Angela Garcia Foundation, which supports organizations that help children, foster families, and grow the game of golf. Garcia is also a board member of the Save Muny Foundation and co-chair of the American Heart Association of Austin Circle of Red Campaign.
“I credit my parents who raised me to be kind, compassionate, generous, and always striving to do better. It’s important to me to do my part in making a difference and helping to foster a positive environment for the next generation,” Angela Garcia says.
Garcia worked for the governor of Texas before her career as a broadcast journalist, where she worked as an on-air reporter and host for FOX Sports, NBC, The Golf Channel, and SiriusXM, where she had her own radio show. Her passions now are taking care of her children and supporting her husband, and she remains passionate about giving back to her community and beyond.
