Texas Named 29th-Best University in the World
The University of Texas at Austin is the world’s 29th-best university, according to a new ranking of the best 400 institutions across the globe.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, which uses data from Thompson Reuters, bases its rankings on teaching, research, citations, industry income, and international outlook.
Texas finished 29th ahead of all other schools in the state, as well as some impressive international names, including the University of Tokyo, the University of Hong Kong, the University of Edinburgh, Washington University in St. Louis, UNC, NYU, and the London School of Economics.
The ranking is the latest in a series that show Texas among the nation’s top public research universities and increasingly on the way to reaching its goal of becoming the top public research and teaching university in the country.
The California Institute of Technology was ranked No. 1, followed by Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, and Princeton. Rice University was the next-highest in Texas at No. 72. Texas A&M ranked No. 164.
