Texas’ Khat Bell Named Big 12 Freshman of the Week
Texas freshman outside hitter Khat Bell has been named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week after leading the eighth-ranked Longhorns to three wins at the Time Warner Cable Texas Invitational. The award is the first Big 12 weekly honor of her career.
The Big 12 Preseason Freshman of the Year, headlined the Horns’ attack with a team-best .359 hitting percentage last week, while registering 4.30 points, 3.40 kills and 2.20 digs per-set. She also led Texas from behind the service line with a team-best six service aces and chipped in 0.50 blocks per-set. Her stellar performance landed her Texas Invitational Most Valuable Player accolades.
Bell and her Texas teammates return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 20 when they travel to TCU. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. Central.
