David Ash, Texas … Baseball Player?
David Ash has thrown his final career pass as a Longhorn, perhaps just in time to throw his first strikeout.
A Texas athletics spokesman confirmed yesterday that David Ash has thrown multiple bullpen sessions with Texas pitching coach Skip Johnson. Ash did not play baseball in high school, but he’s certainly shown that he has a strong arm.
The news is premature for a few reasons—among them being that the spokesman stated that the baseball team is merely “feeling it out,” and that Texas made the College World Series this spring and will most likely be a top-ranked team with a multitude of nice arms returning.
Ash retired from football last month after concussion-like symptoms resurfaced following the season opener against North Texas. He missed the following two games before permanently walking away from the game.
We’ll follow the story as it develops.
