Longhorns in Ramallah

We last caught up with Patrick O’Connell, BA ’75, MBA ’79, JD ’84, and wife Jan Soifer, JD ’82, Life Members, when they spotted a UT flag in Scotland. More recently, the globetrotting duo shared UT pride in Ramallah, West Bank.

While touring the Middle East on an educational trip, they met Salam Fayyad, PhD ’86, Life Member, Distinguished Alumnus, the prime minister of the Palestinian Authority. O’Connell presented Fayyad with a UT shirt, and the prime minister asked, “So is the football team going to hook ’em this year?”

“There’s a politician who understands what’s important,” says O’Connell.
