Saluting the Texas Exes Ambassadors

Last Friday, the Texas Exes hosted the annual Ambassador Fall Kick-Off to welcome our dedicated volunteers. The Texas Exes Ambassadors are a group of approximately 60 people who volunteer endless hours with the Ex-Students’ Association.

From pouring champagne at graduation and checking membership at tailgates to shuttling students to Camp Texas, our Ambassadors are always at the ready with a smile and a passion for the University. In fact, Harley Clark, known for making the Hook ’em Horns sign famous, greeted enthusiastic freshmen at Camp Texas just this week.

Two co-chairs, Bill Haehnel and Cindy Reeves, lead the group. They have big plans for our 2012-2013 volunteers, including pitching in at ring ceremonies, our Commencement Open House, and our fall scholarship dinners.

I’d like to give a very big thank you to this group of passionate hosts. These selfless volunteers enable the Texas Exes’ many events and programs throughout the year. After all, it was because of alumni volunteers that the Association was founded in 1885.

The Ambassador program, formerly known as the Host Committee, began in 1975.  If you are interested in joining this fantastic group of volunteers, please contact Cindy Reeves at cindys@alumni.utexas.net.
