Calling All Texas Exes: Join Us in Giving Back

Calling all Texas Exes, everywhere!

Today marks the launch of one of our most ambitious efforts in years.

Throughout the month of February, Texas Exes around the world will be suiting up in our burnt-orange best and giving back to our local communities.

We’re calling this effort Texas Exes Care About The Project, and we’re delighted to be partnering with the University’s Division of Diversity and Community Engagement to expand its annual, student-led service day The Project—held here in Austin, Texas—across the globe.

So far, nearly 50 Texas Exes Chapters have selected and scheduled service projects that matter to their communities. The Cincinnati Chapter is leading the way, hosting a month-long blood drive that kicks off today. The Chicago Chapter is getting creative, pairing a food drive with a game-watching party Saturday when Texas basketball takes on Tech. The United Kingdom Chapter will be organizing a winter-coat drive. And the Austin County Chapter has pledged to plant a tree for every Longhorn football victory.

Why are we doing this? Because what starts at The University of Texas changes the world. When students become alumni and band together in their communities to give back, we change our world. Citizens all over the nation and beyond will know—without a doubt—our strength, our passion, our care, and the kind of people we Texas Exes are through our actions.

I invite all Texas Exes to throw on that Texas T-shirt and participate. You can find a full listing of projects currently planned at TexasExes.org/care. If there isn’t one set in your area and you are interested in participating, let us know.

And if you’re in Austin, join us on Feb. 25 for The Project, UT’s largest day of service and one of the largest university service events in the country. It’s an incredible sight, with more than 2,000 students, faculty, staff, and alumni gathered for a common purpose.

Ready? On your mark, get set, serve!
