UT Named 24th-Best Value Public University in the U.S.
In the wake of possible 2012-2014 tuition hikes, the value of higher education has been called into question recently here on the Forty Acres. However, there’s a light in the darkness: UT has landed on Kiplinger’s Top 100 Best Values in Public Colleges for the 2012 year.
Thanks to factors that include high four-year graduation rates, low average student debt, abundant financial aid opportunities, and overall low sticker price, our beloved University found itself in the 24th spot this year—one of only three Texas schools on the list. (Texas A&M was 21; UT-Dallas was 46).
UT faced stiff competition this year, especially from first-place winner University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which has held the top spot for the last 15 years. Yearly costs at UNC come out to roughly $17, 628 per year.
The entire list of best-value colleges will run in Kiplinger’s February 2012 issue, as well as on the magazine’s website today.
