Texas Exes Launch UT History Central Website
It’s our official 125th birthday today at the Texas Exes and we’re celebrating by giving the University a gift.
At 10 a.m. this morning, the Texas Exes are unveiling a new website devoted to showcasing the history and traditions of the University of Texas.
The site, UT History Central, is organized into three sections, allowing you to explore, experience, and celebrate the history and traditions of the university through photos, audio, video, and text.
It’s pretty addicting, featuring an “A to Z” listing of people, buildings, departments, events, organizations, projects, and more that have been central to the University’s existence and legacy; audio, visuals, and video from UT history; a historical timeline; and trivia, anecdotes, and little-known stories.
Resident UT history expert Jim Nicar pulled together much of those juicy history stories on the site and has been collecting these rare UT postcards for years. The old photo collection alone is worth checking out.
The UT History Central launch is part of a larger Texas Exes campaign to celebrate our 125th anniversary year. In May we unveiled a list of 125 Extraordinary Exes and alumni have since added hundreds of new names to the list.
So, happy birthday to us, and happy procrastinating to you.
