Texas Fight: The Torchlight Parade and Rally in Pictures
Save for a 20-year hiatus in the ’70s and ’80s, UT’s Torchlight Parade and Rally has been going strong since 1916, when Longhorns cheered for the football team before its yearly game against A&M. The rival team has changed, but last Wednesday the rally—hosted by the Texas Exes—was strong as ever.
A sea of burnt-orange clad students, faculty, and alumni cheered on the football team, band, cheerleaders, and spirit groups, who all performed at the rally in front of the Tower. Charlie Strong spoke about his confidence in the team to an exuberant response from the crowd. Though UT ultimately lost, Strong didn’t eat his words. UT put up a formidable showing against Oklahoma that Longhorns could be proud of in the midst of an otherwise bleak season.
