Provost Steven Leslie to Step Down
UT executive vice president and provost Steven Leslie announced today that he will step down from his administrative duties.
“I’ve been proud to stand by President Bill Powers’ side and do the important work of this institution,” Leslie said in a press release. “I’ve reached a point where I realize there are more things I want to do before I retire—like write, teach and other projects that can advance the goals of higher education.”
Effective Aug. 31, Leslie will return to teaching and research. He previously served as dean in the College of Pharmacy, but this time he will focus on higher education policy research, according to UT director of media outreach Tara Doolittle.
Since becoming provost in January 2007, Leslie has made dozens of appearances at Texas Exes events—from congratulating students at class ring ceremonies to speaking at scholarship dinners.
