Camp Texas, a three-day, fun-invested adventure run by the Texas Exes for incoming freshmen and the absolute best-kept secret at The University of Texas, kicked off today in Marble Falls.

Some 190 students arrived at the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center this morning, ready to have a good time and learn UT’s proverbial ropes before classes begin later this month. After a brief introductory session, they were whisked onto buses and out to the Texas Hill Country.

Over three days and two nights, these young Longhorns will get unparalleled access to some senior UT faculty and administrators at the celebrated Camp Balcones Springs. They’ll play games, face team challenges, and jump on the famous blob.

Oh yeah, and they’ll meet some of the best friends of their lives.

The Camp Texas counselors have been training all spring to welcome these new members of the UT family and teach them how to get the most out of their time on the Forty Acres. Let’s see how Day 1 went.
