Feather Hair Extensions and Other Trends

Feather Hair Extensions
With the recent revival of ’70s fashion, hippie-chic college students are opting for a new hair accessory—feathers. Made from roosters’ feathers, the extensions are quick and simple to apply: the feathers clip directly into hair and can be washed, dried and styled for up to four months. It’s a cheap (most extensions cost less than $30) and non-committal way to change up a boring hairstyle; some students go for fuchsia, purple, or bright yellow feathers, while tamer types choose natural-looking browns and tans.
Free at UT
Using Facebook and Twitter, Free at UT connects the campus community with the endless free events, food, music, and movies offered around the Forty Acres. The open-source platform allows users to instantly share the locations of freebies. Past heads-ups have included free tea at the University Co-op, free Red Bull at Jester City Limits, and free unconditional love on Mother’s Day.
HeyTell App
CYA, TTYL, BRB. If you think college students still need SMS text lingo, you haven’t heard about HeyTell. The cross-platform voice messenger is essentially a revamped walkie-talkie available on Androids and iPhones. HeyTell is both free and faster than texting. Just push to chat, then, while you’re waiting for a response, scope out the locations of your friends using the Maps function. In true social-networking fashion, the app is also linked to Facebook, where you can “like” voice messages and invite friends to chat.
