Saving the Iconic Bellville Turnverein German Dance Hall

Three members of the Texas Exes Austin County Chapter, Tom Barron, MBA ’72; John Grube, BA ’65; and Don Conrad, ’71; were among the 10 folks who came together in 2017 to save the Bellville Turnverein, the first round dance hall in Texas which dates back to 1897. Together they formed a nonprofit, the Bellville Turnverein Pavilion Restoration Project, which now operates the restored landmark for parties and events, such as the annual Austin County Fair.
