Longhorn Makes History as First Army Signal Corps Officer Transfer to Space Force

The new commander of Space Delta 8 in Colorado Springs is also the first Army Signal Corps Colonel to make the inter-service transfer to the U.S. Space Force. David Pheasant, BA ’00, Life Member, is a Distinguished Military Graduate of the UT ROTC program whose decorated service spans 26 years and has earned him the Bronze Star Medal and Legion of Merit award.

He was a by-name request to join the Space Force from his time as commander of the 53rd Signal Battalion and acting commander of the Satellite Operations Brigade. Pheasant was first commissioned from UT as an Army Signal Corps officer before joining the Stryker Brigade and later the worlds of SATCOM and cyber as battalion commander.
