The Magnificent 17
Meet the newest class of Forty Acres Scholars.
Until recently, there was no comprehensive full-ride merit scholarship for University of Texas students—and as a result, many of Texas’ best and brightest students headed to the Ivy League instead of UT. That changed in 2009, when the Texas Exes’ Forty Acres Scholars Program launched. Far more than just a check, the program includes leadership training, service and international experiences, and much more. When the class of 2018 matriculated this fall, the program celebrated a landmark: There are now scholars in all four classes on campus. Among their number are entrepreneurs and athletes, scientists and artists, musicians and writers. Here is a look at the class of 2018.
