In this picture from the 1966 Cactus, students build a snowman by the Tower after a rare snowfall. Troy Kimmel, UT’s incident meterologist and a senior lecturer, recalls only a few campus closures due to weather in his 25 years at UT. “Measurable snowfalls here can be eight to 10 years apart,”  Kimmel says. “So it’s a special thing when it happens.
