Longhorn Village Chapter Donates 165 Bags of Clothing
From coast to coast, Texas Exes around the country volunteered their time for Project Worldwide during the month of February. And in scenic Steiner Ranch on the outskirts of Austin, the Texas Exes Longhorn Village Chapter pitched in with a hefty donation to the Salvation Army.
On Feb. 23, the chapter collected 165 bags of donated clothing and five boxes of miscellaneous items from Longhorn Village residents. A group of seventh-graders from nearby Canyon Ridge Middle School and their fathers also partnered with the residents to help collect donations, according to Al Sommers, BJ ’93, Life Member, who oversees public relations for Longhorn Village.
The Longhorn Village resident volunteers included Jim Bissett, BS ’59; Bob Warren; Wynn Presson, BBA ’63; Ann Guinn, BS ’65, MEd ’69; Bill Rhue; Jim Mayfield; Ray Kerby; Bob Speckman; Beverly Moore; and Liz Tait, BA ’69. They are all Life Members.
Sommers expressed his gratitude to Mark Williams, the Canyon Ridge Middle School father who organized six dads and 10 middle school volunteers; and to Longhorn Village employees Leonard Browne and Sar Nu.
