Higher Ed Coalition Expands its Dream Team (Again)
Today the Texas Coalition for Excellence in Higher Education announced 57 new founding members, lengthening its roster of influential Texans to 317 total founders.
Among the new members are 2011 Distinguished Alumnus Jon Brumley, former Texas Exes president Richard Leshin, and Texas Exes CEO Leslie Cedar.
“These new founding members represent a diverse cross-section of Texans who will help us continue to advocate for open and transparent dialogue, calling on elected officials, members of the boards of regents and university leaders to make constructive improvements that will strengthen higher education in Texas,” said the coalition’s operating committee in a statement.
The coalition was formed months ago to try and shape the contentious higher education debate in Texas, and in particular to raise the level of it. Several of the coalition’s members have testified to the new joint oversight committee formed in response to what legislators saw as inappropriate influence by outside groups on the Texas A&M and UT System boards of regents.
