Darrell K Royal Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
Former UT head football coach Darrell K Royal received a Lifetime Achievement Award last Friday from the Rise Across Texas Foundation.
The Rise Schools are preschools for children with and without developmental disabilities. The schools have close ties to UT Athletics: Mack and Sally Brown helped found the Austin Rise School in 2003, and the school’s future home at the Mueller Development has been named in their honor.
Royal received the award Friday at a VIP ceremony at the AT&T Center. Athletics communications pro Bill Little, UT regent Steve Hicks, and UT System Chancellor Francisco Cigarroa were in attendance.
