Texas Exes Named One Of Best Workplaces In Greater Austin

Statesman Top Workplaces bannerThe Texas Exes is one of the best small companies to work for in Greater Austin, according to a new ranking from the Austin American-Statesman.

The Statesman’s inaugural Top Workplaces list surveyed 16,761 workers from 118 Austin-area employers to find the top 75 companies where employees are happiest and see their work as being about more than just a paycheck.

The Texas Exes, known officially as the Ex-Students’ Association of The University of Texas, came in eighth among small businesses.

“We have a great team environment,” says Bill McCausland, chief operating officer of the Texas Exes. “Everyone who works here is committed to the mission and the cause, and the results are a reflection of that.”

The Statesman listed direction, execution, career mobility, managers, conditions, and pay & benefits as workplace strengths at the Texas Exes, which is based on the University of Texas campus in the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center.

The Texas Exes is celebrating its 125th year in 2010. Its mission is to unite, inform, and involve alumni and friends for the purpose of promoting, protecting, and preserving The University of Texas at Austin.

Some 93,000 alumni and friends of UT are members of the Texas Exes. The association strives to connect members to each other and to the past, present, and future of the University through fellowship, career counseling, travel, reunions, continuing education, legislative advocacy in support of higher education, and The Alcalde magazine.

The University Co-op was also ranked among the top small company workplaces in the Austin area.
