Texas A&M Gun Scare A False Alarm
Texas A&M is no longer on lockdown, and the threat of a possible gunman is over after officials identified a person carrying a replica weapon.
The university sent an update at 5:34 p.m. on its Code Maroon system giving the all-clear and instructing the community to resume its normal activities.
The campus had been on lockdown after a possible gunman was spotted near the center of campus. Reports suggested the suspect had a rifle like an AK-47.
There were no reports of shots fired.
Former president George H.W. Bush, Barbara Bush, and Laura Bush are on campus for a ribbon-cutting at the Bush Presidential Library Center.
A month ago to the day, a University of Texas student brought an AK-47 to campus, fired shots, and killed himself.
