UT Tower To Undergo Renovations

The University of Texas TowerThe iconic UT Tower at the heart of the Forty Acres is about to get some upgrades.

Starting in July, the north side of the Tower will temporarily lose some of its wall and lighting so that workers can install new A/C units to replace the current 45-year-old equipment.

The tricky part is that these units are at the top of the Tower, so the new ones will have to be raised from the 10th floor all the way to the top.

Unfortunately, there won’t be any lights on the side from now until spring, meaning the Tower will only be 3/4 burnt-orange whenever it’s lit.

The good news is that the other three sides will remain boldly illuminated, and the bells will still play as scheduled, reminding students that they are, indeed, yet again, late for class.
