It Could Be Yours: One-Of-A-Kind Burnt-Orange Smart Car
If you’ve ever dreamed of cruising up and instantly commanding the attention of every football player, cheerleader, and true Texas fan in sight, here’s your big chance.
The Texas Exes have just launched a raffle of a unique, specially made UT-orange Smart Car.
The little eye-catcher, valued at more than $18,000, was donated by Round Rock Auto Group in February.
The car debuted Friday at the Exes’ Spring Council meeting, where Chief Operating Officer Bill McCausland drove it right into the ballroom where the meeting was being held.
Bill is a tall guy, and the two-seater Smart Car is a small vehicle, but it managed to contain not only Bill, but also our long-horned mascot, Hook ’em.
Hook ’em hopped out and showed off the car to great applause and countless flashbulb pops. Like we said, an eye-catcher. The dealership reported that as the car was brought down I-35 — one of the few places it has been driven — people gawked and snapped pictures. (Here’s hoping they were passengers, not other drivers!)
The $10-per-ticket raffle will continue through the summer and fall, with the winner to be announced at the year’s final tailgate (the A&M Thanksgiving Day matchup Nov. 25). Proceeds benefit the Texas Exes’ Student Opportunity Endowment, which enables students to pursue dreams like studying abroad, presenting at conferences, working internships, and volunteering.
Come check it out at any of the tailgate parties and buy tickets there, swing by the Alumni Center during business hours, or simply click here and purchase online. ¡Buena suerte!
