Longhorns Land Blue-Chip Recruits Jeffcoat And Hicks

Even in the off season, the Horns are scoring big.

Within hours of each other today, two of the best high school football players in the country have committed to Texas, the Austin American-Statesman reports.

Jackson Jeffcoat of Plano West is the top-rated defensive end in the state. Jordan Hicks of Lakota West won the award for the nation’s top high school linebacker.

The two were the five-star recruits in the Longhorns’ recruiting class (which, by the way, is second only to Florida’s, with 19 four-star recruits.)

Jeffcoat and Hicks are the 23rd and 24th players to commit to Texas, and this won’t be the end. Clearly, the Horns have more great seasons in store.

Bonus: According to the Statesman’s Alan Trubow, Jeffcoat picked Texas over Oklahoma, where his twin sister has committed to play basketball, and Houston, where his dad is a basketball coach.
