Jon Hamm — The One Who Got Away

Sorry, Matthew McConaughey. You no longer have a monopoly on hot male movie stars to have come out of The University of Texas.

Turns out Jon Hamm — better known to some as the dashing Don Draper — also attended UT. He stars in AMC’s hit Mad Men, a critics’ darling about the New York advertising world of the 1960s.

Hamm has quickly become a celebrity, appearing most recently in the new Ben Affleck film The Town, but his story isn’t an entirely happy one.

After his dad died when Hamm was 20, he “became unmoored,” he told magazines this week. Depressed, he transferred from UT to the University of Missouri to be near his home-state friends.

His record didn’t pop up immediately in our alumni files, but there he is, showing hints of handsomeness, in the 1990 Cactus. Anyone remember seeing him around? We wish we did. Sigh.
