Introducing the 2017 Distinguished Alumni

This fall, as is tradition, the Texas Exes will come together to honor a group of the university’s most impressive alumni. Aside from getting to wear the famous and coveted burnt orange blazer, these alumni will receive the association’s highest honor: the Distinguished Alumnus Award. Created in 1958, Distinguished Alumnus Awards are granted annually to alumni who have distinguished themselves professionally and through service to the University of Texas at Austin.

This year’s remarkable honorees will join the likes of Governor Greg Abbott, actor Matthew McConaughey, former first lady Laura Bush, astronaut Karen Nyberg, and Heisman Trophy winner Earl Campbell. They will be honored with a presentation at the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center on November 10, 2017.
