UT Ranks in Top 25 Most Buzzed-About Universities
It may only be January, but The University of Texas has already landed an impressive 2013 ranking. According to Global Language Monitor, UT-Austin is the eighth most buzzed-about university in the country—up two spots from 2012.
GLM’s 25 Most Buzzed-About Universities of 2013 list is compiled every nine months, but this edition was slightly different. In it, public universities actually outnumber private institutions 13-12. UT is the second-highest public school on the list, topped only by the University of California, Berkley. The two are the only public institutions in the top 10.
Using GLM’s TrendTopper MediaBuzz analysis, the rankings measure the brand equity of more than 400 schools by taking into account all electronic media regarding a university—every blog, webpage, and Twitter mention.
This is just the latest accolade UT has earned in the past year. In 2012, the University landed on rankings that ranged from prestigious to just plain wacky. Here are just a few:
- #1 Top Selling Merchandise (Collegiate Licensing Company)
- #12 Film Schools in the World (The Hollywood Reporter)
- #23 National University Rankings (Washington Monthly)
- #6 Schools that Tweet and Like More Than You (Mashable)
- #17 Top Party Colleges (Newsweek & Daily Beast College Rankings)
