Texas Volleyball Advances To NCAA Regional Semifinals

The Lady Longhorns swept two matches in as many days in this weekend’s NCAA Championship at Gregory Gym, earning them a spot in the NCAA Lexington Regional in Kentucky this Friday, Dec. 9.

Friday night, top-seeded Texas knocked off nearby-rival Texas State in three straight sets. Outside hitter Haley Eckerman led the match with an impressive 16 kills, while fellow outside hitter Bailey Webster followed suit with 11.

The Friday night win pushed Texas into a second round match the following day against Michigan State, where 16 team blocks helped lead the team to its second sweep in two days.

The now 24-4 Lady Longhorns will take on Kentucky in the NCAA Lexington Regional semifinals this Friday. This is the team’s 28th appearance in the NCAA Championship, eight of which have occurred in the last eight years.
