Benefit Concert At UT Raises $725,000 for Wildfire Victims

They say everything’s bigger in Texas. Apparently that includes hearts and wallets, too.

On Thursday, UT president Bill Powers presented a $725,000 check to the Austin Community Foundation for aid to victims of the Central Texas wildfires. The money was raised at an Oct. 17 benefit concert at UT’s Frank Erwin Center.

The concert sold out, and more than 16,300 people attended.

“Part of being a great university is being a good neighbor, helping to solve problems and supporting the community in which you live,” Powers said in a statement.
