Future Longhorn Already Knows the Fight Song By Heart
Karen Schwethelm, BS ’81, Life Member, was happily surprised to see her grandson, Hollander McCann Perez, who upon seeing the color of the Hamptons sunset, raised his horns and exclaimed, “I say Texas fight to the sundown, and it’s goodbye to A&M.”
Hollander is from New York City but has visited Karen in Texas many times, where his grandmother taught him “Texas Fight” and “The Eyes of Texas.” Hollander learned the songs during her time on the UT women’s basketball team from 1975-77.
Hollander has been obsessed with the Longhorns since attending his first game at 18 months old, and plays the songs “ad nauseam” at home.
