Longhorns Inducted into the Carrier Hall of Fame

Andrew John Freund, BS ’54, and Robert Geis Freund, BS ’57, were inducted into the Carrier Hall of Fame in March 2017. The award celebrates the brothers’ dedication as one of the top Carrier dealers in the nation, and recognizes the expertise of their entire team at Comfort-Air Engineering in San Antonio.

In 1964, the Freund brothers decided to go into business for themselves as Carrier dealers in San Antonio, founding Comfort-Air Engineering with just three employees. The brothers eventually turned the company over to five of their children, of which four are still operating the business today. Freund Enterprises now consists of a full-service plumbing company, Primo Plumbing, as well as Comfort-Air Engineering, with over 120 employees and annual revenues of more than $16 million.

Integral to Freund’s success is the strong support of their families, including John’s wife, Marilyn Freund, and Robert’s wife, Georgeanne Freund, BBA ’55.
