Singing Principal Honored by the State of Texas

Andy Veliz, MEd ’74, Life Member, was honored for his achievements as a composer and performer and his contribution to the cultural vitality of Texas by the state of Texas and state representative of District 39, Armando “Mando” Martinez. Veliz has worked in education for nearly four decades and is the artist behind the 1980 regional hit “Lonely Nights Without You,” which earned him the nickname the “Singing Principal.”
