A Longhorn at the “Mitad del Mundo”

Bruce Cook, BA ’79, Life Member, thought of his alma mater while straddling the Equator in Ecuador. Cook—who works as a business consultant, bed-and-breakfast innkeeper, and tour leader in Austin—visited the aptly-named “Mitad del Mundo” (Middle of the World) in December.

“The sandals and socks are not a fashion statement,” Cook assures us. “My hiking books fell apart three-quarters of the way through the trip, and I had to improvise!”

Cook isn’t the first Texas Ex to hook ’em at the Equator. Jim Bissett, BS ’59, and Marsha Bissett, Life Members, did the same last spring.
