Flags Commemorate 11th Anniversary of 9/11

Across the nation, commemorations were more muted today. But The University of Texas campus once again hosted its some 3,000 miniature American flags.

Each of the flags displayed on the South Mall honored a victim of the attacks of 11 years ago: Sept. 11, 2001.

The flags were placed by the Young Conservatives of Texas, who have memorialized the attacks in the same way each year since 2002.

“It is critical that we never forget those lost on that horrific day 11 years ago,” group chairman John Horton told KXAN. “This is a way of honoring those victims and ensuring that they will never be forgotten.”
