Georgianne Burlage, MA ’78, Life Member, is a huge Texas fan. One of her former students, Alex de la Torre, knows this, so when he signed to play football at UT starting this fall, he decided to orchestrate a big surprise for his beloved teacher.
“I heard a knock on my classroom door and opened it to see Mack Brown standing in the hall!” Burlage says. “Imagine my surprise.”
Burlage teaches AP World History at Denton’s Ryan High School; de la Torre will be the school’s third graduate to play Longhorn football.
