Some guy named Jake Lebahn, a 580 WIBW sportstalk host/reporter in Topeka, Kansas, tweeted about an hour ago that a source tells him Texas football coach Mack Brown will retire after this weekend’s game against Baylor.
What a scoop! And from Topeka! Talk about dialed in. Wait, is it true? It’s on Twitter, after all.
When I emailed Mack’s people for a response, they wrote: “You can say we said it doesn’t even warrant a response.”
I wonder why? Maybe because Mack’s team is going to a bowl game this year. Maybe because after a so-so season, the turnaround is well on its way. Maybe because anyone who knows Mack would know better than to think he would abruptly hang it up before he gets back to football’s promised land.
So I guess that means it’s true! Here’s hoping the Horns hump the Bears in Mack’s farewell to all the Texas fans—in Waco!
