Texas Basketball’s J’Covan Brown Named Player of the Week

Basketball junior J’Covan Brown has been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. Voting for the honor is conducted by a media panel.

Brown averaged 30 points, 7.5 assists, 6 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per contest in UT’s games against Rhode Island (Nov. 15) and Oregon State (Nov. 19). The Port Arthur native shot (.500) from the field, including 10-of-18 (.556) threes, and 14-of-18 (.778) free throws in the two contests.

Brown is averaging a team-best 29.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this season while adding 23 assists (7.7 apg) against just seven turnovers. Brown also has converted 50.9% (28-of-55) from the floor, including a 13-of-27 (.481) mark from three-point range.

Texas meets North Carolina State this evening (5:30 p.m. CT) in the consolation game of the TicketCity Legends Classic in East Rutherford, N.J. The game will air live on the Longhorn Network and ESPN3.com.
