Camp Texas 2012 Expanding to Five Sessions

After an overwhelming response to Camp Texas this year, the three-day Texas Exes program is expanding to a whopping five sessions—three more than in 2011.

Why the change?

This summer, spaces for the two Camp Texas 2011 excursions filled up in less than a month. And—even more impressive—the waitlist held enough students to fill two additional sessions.

“We will be giving over 800 incoming students the opportunity to make friends, learn about life on the 40 Acres, and get the best possible head-start to their college careers,” says Taylor Nyberg, student relations coordinator for Texas Exes.

Camp Texas is an informative and fun three-day trip that introduces incoming UT freshmen to life on the 40 Acres through meet and greets with professors, water Olympics competitions, and leadership training—not to mention a festive luau.

“We knew the demand was there to expand Camp Texas,” says Kim Gundersen, associate executive director of Texas Exes, “and ultimately we’d like every incoming freshman to have the opportunity to attend if they so choose.”

Camp Texas 2012 will mark the program’s 20th anniversary.
