Aggies Break Up With the Big 12

Texas A&M University sent its breakup letter to the Big 12 today, saying it wants to date other conferences.

A&M president R. Bowen Loftin wrote to Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe that as of June 30, 2012, the Aggies are history.

It’s been widely reported that A&M is interested in joining the SEC, but that plan hit a snafu a couple weeks ago when the SEC declined to extend the Aggies an invitation.

Now that A&M and the Big 12 are officially broken up, maybe the SEC will be ready to date them.
