Old Spice Guy Creator and Texas Ex Speaks on ‘Internets Duel’
You may remember reading about the impeding “internets duel” between the reigning face of Old Spice, Isaiah Mustafa, and Italian hunk model, Fabio, over who would be the official Old Spice Guy.
Craig Allen, BA ’03, BS ’03, Life Member, Outstanding Young Texas Ex, who created the “Man Your Man Could Smell Like” campaign, helped write the commercials for the battle.
“Three days of writing over 180 videos was as fun as it was torturous for us writers, but luckily we came out alive,” said Allen. “As Mr. Mustafa eloquently put it himself, ‘I don’t know what we just did, but we did a whole lot of something.’”
For those of you who can’t watch the whole Mano a Mano en el Baño competition, Allen provides a spoiler: “Not surprisingly, but hopefully a little surprisingly for entertainment’s sake, the [original] Old Spice Guy retained his fragrantly magnificent crown.”
