Congrats To The Newest Crop of Texas Exes
About 7,800 of UT’s students will graduate from the University today and tomorrow.
Surely they all look forward to great things and leave with fond memories of their days on the Forty Acres.
The University’s Office of Public Affairs found nine graduates who took a different route to their degree, whether by overcoming the odds against them or traveling to the ends of the Earth (or Russia) to find their passion. Read their great stories on utexas.edu‘s front page feature, “The Class of 2010.”
One of the featured students, Julia Dawson, will be graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering and plans to put it into action on the race track. She has been racing throughout college and hopes now to become the first woman to win a NASCAR Sprint Cup series race.
She invited The Alcalde to a race in College Station last year, and zipping around the track as one of the only women out there, she did not disappoint. Read more about Dawson in May/June 2009′s “Road Scholar.”
